Environmental science, marine protected areas management, ecotourism, small businesses, renewable energy, plain language editing, science communication for the public and policymakers.

Maggie also runs Wheatland Farm, an award-winning a low carbon tourism business in Devon, UK, where she puts into practice what she has learnt over her 20 years in environmental science. Her time as editor with the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council gave her a wide understanding of climate change science. A long stint freelancing for SciDev.Net broadened her knowledge of development issues, and work for the World Fish Centre (in the Caribbean) and with the Kenya Wildlife Service (doctoral studies) have ensured she has not just sat behind a desk.
