The 2021 'super year' for climate, nature and people

A series of blogs and interviews raising awareness and action on the interlinkages between climate, nature and people throughout 2021's key global milestones, and into 2022

This series of blogs and interviews raised awareness and action on the interlinkages between climate, nature and people by exploring key issues around the global milestones throughout 2021.

The world is dealing with multiple crises – climate change, unprecedented biodiversity loss, rising inequalities and the COVID-19 pandemic. 2021, also known as the 'super year', saw increased calls for a combined approach to addressing climate, nature and development priorities that have traditionally been dealt with in silos.

This series showed how IIED and partners helped to encourage a fairer and more sustainable world. The blogs featured aimed to influence key moments in 2021 and lead to tangible action on a combined climate, nature and people agenda. We published around two blogs a month written by IIED researchers and guest experts.
