IIED is pleased to announce its new strategy for the period 2014-2019

IIED's new 2019-24 strategy

Over the next five years, IIED will build on our landmark work with partners on each of four research themes: climate change, natural resources, human settlements and sustainable markets.

We will also focus on four areas that both allow us to build on strength across the institute and provide key opportunities to influence change.

In our new strategy, we hold fast to our central theory of change — that solutions must come from the bottom up, grounded in local context, local evidence and owned and driven by local people — but that local action can and must shape the global policy too.

"We have always combined research and action, testing out big new ideas in practice, to assess whether and how they can achieve their promises," says IIED's Director, Dr Camilla Toulmin.

"For the next five years, we plan to focus even more on practical engagement, to find, test and deliver solutions to help achieve our vision of a fair world in which all people can enjoy peace and prosperity whilst respecting environmental limits."
